Kartik Tyagi’s brilliant last over overpowered Arshdeep Singh’s maiden five-wicket haul as Rajasthan Royals (RR) pulled off an absolute heist and sealed a victory against Punjab Kings (PBKS). It was a very unlucky day for Punjab Kings at VIVO IPL 2021 2nd phase. All the efforts by KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal & Arshdeep’s maiden over went in vain at the end of the game.
We predicted in our last Fantasy Prediction & Dream11 Prediction that it will be difficult for RR to win the match. Turns out, that RR proved our Fantasy Prediction & Dream11 Prediction completely wrong. They overpowered their opposition although PBKS gave a tough fight till the end & it was just a matter of 2 runs.
Both the teams were looking strong with their batting line up but in the end it was Rajasthan Royal’s hard work & luck which helped them to score a win.
First Innings: PBKS vs RR
Royals got off to a promising start behind the opening pair of Evin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal. They who put on a 54-run opening stand in a power play dominated by the West Indian left-hander. It was broken when Arshdeep induced a false drive to extra cover where Agarwal took a sharp catch on the ring to remove Lewis for 36. Jaiswal had taken 40 off the first 10 overs, including five fours and two sixes, but showed his nerves as he closed in on what would have been a maiden IPL fifty.
In the bowling department, the day belonged to Arshdeep. The left-armer had already taken two wickets earlier – Lewis followed by Livingstone at deep midwicket – when he came back at the death to put the clamps on Royals middle and lower order. A slower ball was skied above the pitch for Arshdeep to claim himself for a fourth wicket. One ball later, he went one better with a Yorker to knock over Tyagi as the innings was wrapped up for 185. Thanks to Arshdeep and Shami, only 17 runs were scored off the final three overs as the last five wickets tumbled.
Second Innings: PBKS vs RR
Rahul was dropped three times during a sloppy fielding display by Royals. This allowed him to reach 49 in the end as part of a century stand with Agarwal. But Royals were able to overcome that due to the brilliance of Mustafizur Rahman and Kartik Tyagi. With eight runs needed off 12 balls and eight wickets in hand, Mustafizur conceded just four singles off the penultimate over.
The odds were still overwhelmingly in favor of Kings entering the final over. They had a well-set pair of Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran at the crease. But after a single by Markram, Pooran’s attempted steer with an open face to third man instead found the gloves of Sanju Samson. In the end, Tyagi’s wide yorkers gave him a scoreless final four deliveries and a stunning win for Tyagi and the Royals.
Rajasthan Royals 185 all out (Yashasvi Jaiswal 49, Mahipal Lomror 43; Arshdeep Singh 5/32) beat Punjab Kings 183/4 (Mayank Agarwal 67, KL Rahul 49; Kartik Tygai 2/29) by 2 runs
Man of the Match: Kartik Tyagi
